AN EXTRA PAIR OF SHOES

I spend the days under the roof,
your days are spent under the moon.
I dream of moon,
while you dream of roof.

I started learning from the schools,
you started learning from the fools.
I eat to beat this winter,
you eat to beat your hunger.

With all the resources,
I'm running out of time.
With all the free time,
You're running out of assets.

With winters at their best....
I've winters to hate,
you hate your fate.
My feets feel numb inside the shoes,
your feets feel numb coz you're barefoot.

It's 7 in the morning and still too dark,
we both stand freezing on the railways park.
I stand here, coz I've somewhere to go,
You stand here coz you've nowhere to go.

I'm 22 and you're not even 2.
Even though I've seen much of life
But what took 22 years to learn,
You already know at 2,really fine.

I've complaints and excuses coz...
winters are here and I've refuses.
You neither complain nor refuse,
you're alive and that's your refuge.

My dear! I don't know,
what road and lights feel like when the clock strikes 12 in the night.
And you don't know,
what cozy rooms and quilt feels like in the midnight.

But really...
I'm wonderstruck at your attitude,
and your valour.
Winter that makes me vulnerable,
infront of you, becomes a traitor.

I wish, I had your size
and an extra pair of shoes.
Giving it to you would've meant,
a bonus year for we 2.

With this deep grudge,
and a hole in my heart,
I wish you a happy new year,
And a pair of warm shoes.

By fools in my poem, I mean all the realities of life unlike the most thought of worldly pleasures.

BACKGROUND:
The glimpse of a little boy treading barefoot (literally, struggling to move), early morning on the railway station in Chandigarh winters when winters are at peak, was not only painful but haunting too. A kind lady (mother of 2) happened to have 1 extra pair of her younger son's socks, which she lent to this little champ. The expressions of the boy kept me busy while I scribbled this.

  3. Kindly fill me in as to whether you're searching for an article essayist for your site. You have some truly extraordinary posts and I feel I would be a decent resource. On the off chance that you ever need to take a percentage of the heap off, I'd totally love to compose some material for your web journal in return for a connection back to mine. It would be ideal if you send me an email if intrigued. Much obliged to you! shoe deodorizer
