THE WINDOW

He still remembers the day he stepped into this house.  He was small then.  All he knows is that he was an orphan, who lost his family in a flood and then was adopted by a family who kept on reminding him of the debt he has to pay for saving his life all his life.  He had stayed shut in the house since the day he stepped in.  He was a slave to the people who gave him a roof to live in.  All he had to do was to clean and mop the floor, do the laundry, cook food and take care of the family members.  All his life the only friend he had was this window.  During most of his spare time he used to sit there at the window and gaze at the life beyond it.  He would see in the morning, the birds leaving their nests, children going to school, the elders for their work and people going places.  And in the evening time he could see them all returning, the birds to their roost, the sun and the trees going to rest.  Was it the whole world, he wondered, or was it too far from his imagination.

Hide-n-seek

Frozen dreams and sleepy eyes, Coz last night I was high. Arduous it is to rise, and better to sink and lie. Then came the birds chirping, “the sun’s about to peek”. Gently stroking me up, “let’s play hide-n-seek”. The chilling night has ceased, the day’s knocking out there. After a brief chilly night, my soul thaws so fair. Jostling through lethargy, I walk towards the window. The sun waved to me from, far behind the meadow. So, I step out in a spew, you shine so bright My eyes glitter aglow, at the sultry sight. I know where you’re hiding, there behind those creamy clouds. Coz I can still see the halo, which you cannot becloud. Come out of your hiding, Dear, my eyes so whet. And just when you do so, I shall guzzle you erect. It’s my turn now, have been yearning for this. I wonder why the birds and squirrels, go crazy for the bliss. The fickle touch me nots, under my feet tickle me. Concealed beh
