Reforming the Myth

My India, my Delhi!
Indeed, Delhi is an interesting place with so many historical monuments, types of food, migrants from different parts of country, cultural hub, educational core, etc.  That’s my country’s capital, a metropolitan city.  I love watching pigeons here.  Chronologically mentioning, Delhi was initially popular for Mughal rule, next for being the national capital, then for being established as an exemplary blend of cultures and education, and gradually forming a vicious circle of population and pollution.

In present times, it is prevalently known for being wicked and precarious, portraying a big question mark regarding the safety of Delhiti girls and women.  Not just the fear of being alone, but being with family and friends also makes us reluctant at times, dreading something inconvenient would happen.  So many rules and still no discipline, so many help lines and still no security.  Whenever you step out, there in crowds, that displeasured feeling of being gazed and stared by several agitated eyes just sickens you.  That’s a bitter truth, scarring Delhi’s image.

Avoiding going out and living in trepidation is probably not the solution.  We can’t let the situation curb our freedom and confidence. Let your vehemence be your attitude.  Aggravate them with your strength and power.   Learn self-defence, train yourself for being tough and impregnable.  Rules and help lines are just a secondary support, whereas the primary responsibility of our safety lies within ourselves.  And hence, we must know how to handle such situations.  Everybody has seen a mother, a sister, a daughter, a wife, a sportswoman, a feminist, an artist, etc.  It’s high time anybody saw them as fighters.  Candle marches are merely for formality purpose.  The newer conceptual of agitation is action, and not word for words.

So next, when they try to mess up with our modesty, we’re going to eccentrically repulse and show what it feels like to educe our darker sides.  And that’s when it is going to be a “true epiphany” for us and our society.
